Nick Gust

Chief Operating Officer

Nick Gust’s career embodies the maxim, “success comes from helping others succeed.” His passion is helping others figure out what motivates them. Since joining Salo in 2010, Nick has had the privilege of helping countless professionals find renewed career satisfaction through consulting—while simultaneously ensuring client organizations get the expert consulting help they need. He’s also a key sounding board for people who are considering joining one of Salo’s business development teams.

As Salo’s COO, Nick is responsible for national business development and operations. He has held several other roles at Salo. He was the managing director of Salo’s finance and accounting business unit as it doubled in size—making it one of the largest finance and accounting staffing/consulting organizations of its kind in the country. He also helped design and create Salo Compass™, an innovative model to support professionals transitioning from public accounting. Before Salo, Nick was a manager at Deloitte, leading several of their largest audit and advisory engagements.

Nick is also active in the community. He is currently on the board of the Boys & Girls Club of the Twin Cities, which enables youth to reach their full potential. He is also a board member at FINACA (The Finance and Accounting Consultants Alliance).

He’s a graduate of the University of North Dakota and is a certified public accountant (inactive certificate). Nick lives in Alexandria, Minnesota with his wife and four children. He is a Minnesota sports fan and enjoys lake time/fishing with his kids in the summer.
