Mandy Tuong is president and CEO of Thrivent Charitable Impact & Investing. Thrivent Charitable works with individuals, professional advisors, organization, and partners to provide charitable impact options such as donor advised funds, endowments, charitable planning, mission-related and impact investments, and collective giving. Thrivent Charitable has $600+ million of assets under management, $1.7+ billion of committed gifts, and has distributed nearly $300 million to support communities across the world. Before becoming the organization’s president & CEO in 2019, Mandy served as its senior vice president and general counsel.
Mandy previously worked at the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation in Palo Alto, California, one of the country’s 10 largest foundations, which supports environmental conservation, patient care, and science research. At Moore, she was lead counsel for the foundation’s programs, operations, and grantmaking. She began her career in private practice at Leonard Street and Deinard LP (now Stinson), a national firm based in Minneapolis, as a trusts, tax and estates, and litigation attorney. She continued as in-house corporate counsel at Thrivent Financial.
In addition to Salo’s board, Mandy has served on a variety of boards and committees, including the Oberlin College Alumni Executive Board and President’s Advisory Council, MacPhail Center for Music, Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota, and Minnesota Women’s Economic Roundtable.
Mandy received a J.D. with honors from the University of Minnesota Law School, and undergraduate degrees from Oberlin College in history (B.A.) and Oberlin College Conservatory in piano performance (B.M.). She also an alumna of Stanford University’s Executive Program.
