Salo’s mission is, “Connect and empower to make a difference.” It’s part of everything we do—including our 20th-anniversary celebration.
At Salo, we know that healthy communities create healthy businesses. So, we knew our 20th-anniversary celebration had to include giving back to the communities where we work. That’s where HandsOn Twin Cities came in. They worked with us to identify organizations that could use our help. Then, they helped us plan “hands-on” activities that our employees could do together.
Who we helped
Although Salo is headquartered in the Twin Cities, we have offices and employees throughout the country. So, our volunteer initiatives were spread out over several states and focused on issues important to our employees. The organizations we supported were centered around homelessness, mental health, and children:
- Touchtone Mental Health in Minnesota
- Cornerstone Community Outreach in Illinois
- Our Neighbors’ Place in Wisconsin
- Restart Inc. in Missouri
- Haven of Hope in Colorado
- The Beacon in Texas
- Boys and Girls Club of the Twin Cities
Our impact
Here’s our impact by the numbers:
- 100+ volunteers engaged
- 60 blankets made
- 350+ pairs of socks donated
- 250 snack bags packed
- 650+ individuals impacted
- $6,000 donated
And we’re ending the year strong
Salo is finishing our year of giving with our annual toy drive initiatives. This year, we’re supporting Toys for Tots in the Twin Cities, Aurora, Houston, Kansas City, and Milwaukee. Additionally, we’ve donated to the McCormick Foundation toy drive in Chicago. We’ve donated nearly 100 toys and raised over $5,000 for these organizations.
