After several years at a Big 4 firm, Morgan Brown was feeling ready for a change. She said, “My process was to re-evaluate where I was at with my career in public accounting each year. After completing my first busy season as an Audit Senior, I started conversations with my internal coaches to understand what I could do to prevent feeling burned out in the future. My coaches and other individuals at my firm were very accommodating. They offered helpful insights and were honest with me about the continued workload and hours I would experience as I moved up within the firm.”
A hard decision
“I knew it was time to start looking for a change (whether within my firm or elsewhere),” Morgan continued. “I carefully considered whether the timing was right on both a personal and professional level for more than six months. It certainly was not an easy decision to leave a comfortable position and a team I enjoyed.”

“I liked how I didn’t have to specifically choose what I wanted to go into permanently after public accounting. Morgan’s advice to public accountants considering Salo Compass
“Talk with as many people within Compass and people who have left public accounting for a more permanent industry role. Ask questions to help you get an idea of what they do or don’t like about their roles. This will help you weigh your options—giving you a better picture of what it’s like to be in Compass or a more permanent role,” she says.
“In my opinion, you can only gain/benefit from Compass and the opportunities are endless!”
